Dear Monday

Dear March, can't believe you're almost over. Where as the time gone?

Dear 5K on Saturday, this is my 3rd 5K this year and 5th total but my first race that I am running alone. Let's hope this is a good one since it's on a flat course.

Dear March Madness, I don't have a team to root for but it's always fun watching the games.

Dear Irish Exit, typically my kind of bar but it was definitely an interesting time on Saturday.

Dear kickball, I can't wait for the season to start, yesterday's Sunday Funday pickup game reminded me what muscles are used heavily.

Dear friends I have met through NYCSSC, you guys are awesome and know how to make a fun time regardless who is around.

Dear triborough bridge, I love walking over you everyday to get to the subway. There are the most beautiful sights to be seen.

Dear San Francisco/Sacramento, I am anxiously waiting for the day I get to go back and visit. I'm so excited to see friends I haven't seen in months and then some.

Dear St. Patrick's Day, although unplanned and list minute you turned out to be a blast celebrating Saturday night.

Dear kickball, on that trivia note, I can't believe you start in like three weeks. I'm so excited to be back playing with Doesn't Play Well With Others.

Questions for You

So my sister was nominated for a Leibster Award. This is basically a pass-along award for bloggers – kind of like the new version of those meme quizzes that were all the rage (do you prefer hugging or kissing?). So the rules are that I answer her fabulous 11 questions, post 11 random facts about me, and ask 11 more questions to the bloggers I tag. So here's her 11 questions:

11 Questions for My Favorites (that's you!)

1. What's your biggest food weakness? That one thing that you'd never be able to stop eating, despite what a diet might tell you? Biggest food weakness is french fries, preferably well done. I can always eat them.
2. Favorite beverage of all time? Hmmm that's a tough one, I really don't have a favorite but I do enjoy ice tea.
3. Backstreet Boys, N Sync, or 98 Degrees? (I love me some 90's boy bands) I'd say N Sync although my sister did get me into her love of Backstreet Boys (even a 3rd row upfront concert with them).
4. When did you start running? Running races, August 2012. Running just to run and feel fit whether on a treadmill, elliptical or outside was back in college. Freshman year I was determined to not gain the so called "freshman 15"; which I successfully did not gain.
5. What is your favorite race distance? Well I've only ran a 5k and a 4 miler but I'd say that a 5k is my favorite because it's just enough to make me feel accomplished without feeling incredibly exhausted.
6. Would you consider yourself a Phoebe, Monica, or Rachel? Monica, I am a bit of a clean freak and organized OCD but also bit girl next door Rachel.
7. Are there any textures (food or otherwise) that weird you out? Hmm.. well if you know me you know I'm really not picky with foods but I will say that I don't like pickles in any form and I'm oddly picky when it comes to eating cheese. I'll eat in mixed in with something, on nachos, etc but not on a burger.
8. What was your first pet? My sister mentioned our pet rabbit Snowy and around the same time I also had pet fish that my grandfather bought me one Christmas.
9. Your number one desired travel spot? British Isles, Denmark or Bali.
10. If you could go back to school and get your degree in anything, what would you do? Funny she asked this as I have recently applied to go back to school to get a degree in Environmental Science. My job has made me really interested in learning more in depth about environmental sciences.
11. What accomplishment are you most proud of? Moving out to New York on my own without knowing anyone or anything about this city. Almost 2 years later and I'm so proud of what I have accomplished here in my career, financially and personal relationships.

I would tag readers to answer my questions but I only have one follwer as I haven't really gotten into following other bloggers. I like to use this as my own personal diary of sorts.

Throwback Thursday

Today is a bit of a throw back Thursday meets long week meets excited to see my mom. In the past few weeks I have officially planned a trip back to San Francisco and Sacramento to see friends from college. I haven't been back since June 2011 for Hilary and Connelly's wedding. I am so excited to go back and see all my sorority sisters and friends. While telling others I was visiting I found out Elle, a sorority sister from Australia, would be visiting NYC the week before I was to be in California. I am so ready to see her since I haven't seen her since summer 2010 =)

This week has been a long emotional week as this week marks the year since my grandmother in Hungary passed away. My boss had mentioned last week that it had been a year since we started a project I have been working on and have been in Florida to work on this project. Last year I left Florida early to be back to JFK to grab a red eye to Hungary to be with all of my family during the hard time. RIP Nagymama I still miss you everyday.

My mom, on her way back from Hungary, is going to spend the weekend with me on her long trek home to California. I can't wait to see her in New York since the last time she was here was over a year ago doing touristy things with my paternal grandmother and sister. It will be nice to show her around local things, actually meet some of my friends who my family has yet to meet and just show her my everyday surroundings.

President's Day Weekend

Happy President's Day! With a much needed three day weekend I was excited that the weather was going to be sunnier than it has been. Friday I took the chance to have a night in to relax and recuperate from what felt like a long dragged out week.

Saturday I finally was able to run errands that have been on my list for the past week+. I also finally checked out Joe Fresh a clothing company/store that is popular here. I scored a pair of blue skinny pants for $9 and was thrilled! After some much needed apartment cleaning when I got back, I headed out to meet Tiffany and Dwiddy. The three of us were headed to Pieces bar in the West Village to celebrate our kickball friend, Amy's birthday. It was a cute little bar with karaoke galore. Although I don't sing karaoke I still had a blast singing along and cheering on those who do. On the way home we went to Grey's Papaya (my first time) and had hot dogs. It was actually better than I expected it to be.

Sunday Tom, Janssen and I had planned on going bowling but the two bowling alleys we tried to go bowling at were both jam packed with minimum hour waits. So we gave up and decided to grab lunch before heading to Tom's to watch a movie and the Ranger game. We ended up at Shorty's, a Philly cheesesteak place in Midtown West/Hell's Kitchen. Stuffed and ready to relax, we made it back with enough time to watch Men and Black III before the Rangers played the Capitals. Although bowling plans fell through, it was a nice relaxing Sunday with friends.

On President's Day Tiffany, Courtney and I headed down to Chelsea Market to check it out and have lunch. None of us having been there, we walked through the indoor shopping area checking out the bakeries, markets and many delicious restaurants to choose from. We ended up having lunch at Giovanni Rana, this cute rustic looking pasta restaurant. Definitely delicious and well worth it. Before heading out Courtney picked up some wine and we all shared three different types of brownies that were to die for.

It was a great three day weekend and I can't wait for my mom to be in town in two weeks. Here's to a new week.

Wonderful Weekend

Dear Monday, I am glad you are here since trivia starts tomorrow but I'm not glad because the weekend always goes by too fast.

Dear NYRR Gridiron Classic 4 Mile run, boy were you colder and tougher than I thought you would be. I had also never ran in below 30 degree temperatures before. I'd say by looking at my overall time and pace per mile, I didn't do as horrible as I thought I would. My goal was under an hour, so being under 50 minutes I am thrilled. Here's to the next race!

Dear body, I think you are finally getting used to me running again. I am so glad for the chance to do all these things I want to push myself to do.

Dear Music Under New York, I love hearing all the different performers at subway stops. The band on Saturday at Herald Square was such a great way to start the night.

Dear Super Bowl, thanks for hosting a party Tom! It was a blast even with the lights going out during the game I still had a blast hanging out with friends.

Dear sister, I am so proud of you running your first marathon this weekend! Glad you had family and friends to cheer you on.

Dear snow, I am glad we are getting more this year but let's get more than a slight dusting every now and then.

Dear Monday

Dear Gridiron Classic 4M, I have been horrible at preparing to run in the cold. Let's hope I can push through.

Dear sister, good luck and wishing I could be there to cheer you on for your first marathon. Glad you can have family and friends there.

Dear (this past) weekend, you were dull to say the least. Glad this coming weekend is filled with a birthday celebration, running the 4M and Super Bowl.

Dear Super Bowl, let's go 49ers! As a previous San Francisco resident, I am happy to see the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

Dear snow, I am glad you are here but let's stick with real snow not just flurries or no snow at all. Although I will admit we are getting more snow than last year and I'm ok with it.

Dear house, you are incredibly warm. Yes it's winter, but you are seriously feeling like a sauna. I need to fix that somehow.
